Terms Of Use
Rules and information about the User Composition Archive (UCA).

General terms

All information on this page supersedes all other information you might have read elsewhere in connection with the UCA.

Please Note: The UCA is NOT a subsitute for the PTA, the UCA is for tablature composed and uploaded by an individual user. You will not find any songs by Nirvana or Metallica for example.

In response to recent events, the UCA wants to clarify its role. We are not under threat of being shut down by the MPA, as ALL tabs (or better compositions) on the User Composition Archive are composed by our own members, and are uploaded willingly by the people who composed them. These tabs are there own creation.

  • The User Composition Archive only hosts tablature which is composed by it's own members
  • As such it is uploaded willingly, and does not infringe on any copyright law
  • Terms Of Use [Submisssion] state this clearly, that all compositions must be "TYPED IN COMPLETELY into the Power Tab Editor BY YOURSELF"
  • Any tab that is not composed by the user, WILL NOT be accepted into the Archive
We are not in violation of any copyright law.

Submission terms

  • You are only allowed to submit Compositions that have been TYPED IN COMPLETELY into the Power Tab Editor BY YOURSELF. If you have any co-authors who composed the composition with you, you must credit them. In most of such cases you are additionally required to ask your co-authors for permission to submit this composition to the Archive.
  • Acceptance of a Composition into the archive is ENTIRELY up to the (at the time of the decision active) UCA staff. Please keep in mind, that decisions often involve subjective arguments and are not based on entirely objective reasons. Again, if your composition is declined due to dubious reasons, resubmit your composition or start a factual discussion at our forums.
  • Your submission is subject to removal at any time without reason and without prior notification at any state of the submission (on the waiting list as well as in the archive).
  • Terms for acception of your .ptb file to the archive:

Contest rules

  • Participation rules:
    • You must have an account here. It is recommended to have one at the forums to follow any discussions about the current contest. Generally, each contest has its own thread in the UCA Contest Forum, usually titled UCC|QTC|..., then the number denoting the position of that competition in relation to the other contests (e.g. UCC4 for the fourth UCC). Discussion pertaining to submissions is allowed in the aforementioned thread, however, constructive criticism must be tolerated, while flaming (non-constructive criticism) will not. See Voting Rules below.
    • You must submit your composition here, to do so click on submit composition and choose the contest.
    • The song must be composed and typed into the Powertab Editor completely by yourself, or if you submit for team contests by your team members.
    • You are allowed to enter contests with compositions already submitted here.
    • Submissions made after 23:59 GMT on the deadline of the submission period will not be considered, but may be retained for entry into future contests.
    • Often opening of submission files is limited (currently 2 at once). If you have 2 standard files in the queue and can't submit your entry please contact the staff.
  • UCC Rules
