Rules & Info

Rules and other information concerning User Composition Contests (also known as the UCC):

Participation Rules:

1. You must have an account both here and at the Forum. Membership at the forum is required to vote in the contests. Generally, each UCC has its own thread in the UCC Forum, usually titled UCC, then the number denoting the position of that competition in relation to the other UCCs (e.g. UCC4 for the fourth UCC). Discussion pertaining to submissions is allowed in the aforementioned thread, however, constructive criticism must be tolerated, while flaming (non-constructive criticism) will not. See Voting Rules below.

2. You must submit your composition here at the UCC Homepage. Click on Submit a composition and choose the contest.

3. The song must be composed and typed into the Powertab Editor completely by yourself.

4. Competitors are allowed only one song/composition in each genre (see also Rules concerning Team Participation, Genres, below).

5. You are allowed to submit compositions already submitted to the Powertab Archive.

6. Submission and voting periods are announced here. Submissions made after 11:59 GMT on the deadline of the submission period will not be considered, but may be retained for entry into future UCCs.

7. Your submission will fall into one of three genres (see Genres, below); If you have questions concerning the genre of your composition, post an inquiry on the appropriate thread (see Rule 1, above, for direction to the appropriate thread).

QTC RULES:
1. Floating text or any rehearsal signs which describe your themes are not allowed.

Rules concerning Team Participation:

1. You are allowed to submit a composition composed by a team of 2 tabbers/composers.

2. You cannot (1) be a member of more than one submitting team or (2) be a member of a submitting team and submit an entry independently in any one category. You can submit or be a part of a team that submits more than one entry as long as each entry is in a different genre.

3. Your partner has to be a member here.

2. Pop/Blues - non-heavy or pop derivated music: funk, reggae, pop, soft rock, jazz/blues...
3. Classical - acoustic, ballads and classical comps.

Voting Rules:

1. You are only allowed to vote once in each category. If you are found to be responsible for the creation of multiple accounts in order to vote more than once on your or any competitors compostion, disciplinary action will be taken by forum administrators.

2. Constructive criticism must be tolerated.

3. No flaming at all.

4. Do not downrate a song just because it doesn't have the instruments you like/play.

5. If you have corrections, creative new ideas, suggestions, and/or you simply want to say a song sucks/rocks, please contact the tabber. Do not post in the poll (Voting) thread.

6. Do NOT vote on your own composition.

At the end of the voting period, the results will be posted in the forum on the thread that concerns that UCC.

Hall of Fame:

A point system has been established to keep track of UCC competitors by assigning points to winning entries. This is the current ranking of the past UCC competitors, and this is how the point system is calculated.
